04–3-2019 St George – Moapa – Las Vegas – Mojave Desert

306 km, 5h 36min

We stop for the night at a deserted camp ground east of St George. In the morning we drive to a picnic area in St George where cherry trees

are exploding with colors. The road to Moapa Valley, Nevada is straight as can be. Mountain ranges to both sides. Rogers Spring is an oasis right in the middle of the desert. Harpo wants to take a swim but we cannot let him do it, who knows what kind of water this is. Passing Las Vegas we come to the Mojave Desert in the evening. We stop under a big Yucca tree. There is some kind of shrine. Makes you wonder who lost his life in this deserted place. We stop near Kelso, some kind of a railway stop between Las Vegas and the coast, probably Long Beach, California, the harbor of Southern Cal. In the night we can hear a train once in a while. The quiet of the desert is majestic, inreal.
